Dont write for my carnivals!
Dont write for my carnivals! Little change of plans Ill do the summary later (sometime this year) because I want to put more time into it. And, because something else came up keep reading Last night I get a call from one of my carnival entrants. They had just gotten laid off. Irony of ironies, this person constructed a thoughtful response to my question starting YIKES (dont worry, I wont put the whole question here, its been in posts all week ;)) and they would do this and that and that and this. I imagine this person had a fitful night, and hope that they wake up and read through the other submissions that Ive put in from Monday through Thursday. I dont agree with all of it but I do agree with most of it (99%) there are some amazing pearls of wisdom in there. So, make a mental note to yourself, the next time I do a carnival, and it talks about how you would respond to an unfavorable situation it is probably best to not participate Really, though, heres the issue. You are a hard worker. You are a valuable employee. You give 110% all the time, and more when required. You dont waste your employers time or money. You are as loyal as they come. You add value, increase revenue, cut costs. Honestly, I dont care. And your employer doesnt either. You are minutes away from losing your job, and many times for reasons that are completely outside of your control: Company merger or aquisition Poor management, immature management, micromanager has a bad day Business strategy and/or execution problems Your contract or project loses its funding you get the point. I used to think that if you lost your job it was because you were incompetent. But I came to realize (Im slow) that so many times people that are awesome employees get the ax because of things that are completely out of their control. If I was sitting in a cubicle, or better, a corner office, Id take the time to read through the carnival posts carefully and figure out a game plan. The imaginary problem is lets say I get laid off today at 5pm. What is my plan? Dont believe it cant happen to you. Dont write for my carnivals! Why Personal Development Books May Not Lead to Your Success -
Why Personal Development Books May Not Lead to Your Success - What if this whole time we had it all wrong? What if everything was backwards and nothing was what it appears to be? Have you ever felt like you are broken, and something must be intrinsically wrong with you? Do you find yourself in a constant state of judgement thinking you cannot do or be enough? Maybe you believe you will never succeed. These days there are a great deal of personal development books out there and a plethora of people turning to them in the hopes of finding the one that might fix them or solve their problems. Trust me, I have been one of those people too. I can look back on my life and see how much of it was spent in the total and utter wrongness of me. You name it, I could find a way to make everything mean I was innately wrong. Then if things were going really well, I would inevitably create a problem, so it didnât look like I had too much, was too blessed, or too successful. All to appear as messed up as everyone else. https://www.pexels.com/photo/adult-blur-books-close-up-261909/ What if you were never broken to begin with? What if you are not as messed up as you think you are? Did you know you already have all the tools you need within you to be a success in your own life, right now? The fact is, if youre picking up a book thinking thats going to give you the answers, you are looking in the wrong place. What if instead, you realize there was nothing wrong and you already have all the answers? In the words of Marianne Williamson, âyou were born to be brilliant, talented, and fabulous.â If you can recognize the truth in that, then would you ever need anyone or anything to tell you differently? What if there are two paths to succeeding in life? You could choose both or you could just focus on one path. What if one was easy and one not so easy, which one would you choose? Stop Judging Path number 1 is to not judge you. Did you realize that judging you is the greatest unkindness to you? In a sense, judgement is your own worst enemy because it keeps you from seeing your greatness. It keeps you from seeing where you already are a success. Now believe me this was not an easy one for me to get, and I still have my moments for sure. The fact is most of us were taught that judgement should motivate us. If we beat ourselves up enough for what we are not doing, then we will do more of what we need to do. Has that ever really worked for you? What if judgment is actually limiting your success? What if judgement of anything cuts off whats possible and blocks creation? In reality judgment kills. Which means the first step is making the choice to not judge anymore. Choosing to let go of everywhere you still believe you are getting it wrong. One way of doing this is to see a STOP sign in your head and stop every time you perceive you are going down the road of judgment. This will be a lot like building a muscle, the more you stop yourself the less and less you will find yourself in judgement. One of the other ways to stop judging is to ask a question like, âWhatâs right about me Iâm not getting?â âWhatâs right about this I am not getting?â âWhatâs the gift in this I am not acknowledging?â Inside of asking a question a whole new world of possibilities opens up. Be Grateful Path number two, which I believe is the easier one, is to be grateful. At times, I know it may be hard to believe that the Universe is conspiring for you. However, letâs look at this for a moment. Look back on your life at just one thing that didnât work out the way you wanted it to. Maybe it was a relationship that went south, and you thought would be together forever. Maybe you wanted something that did not come to fruition. Perhaps a business venture failed. Whatever it is, ask yourself, âWhat gift came from that that Iâve never acknowledged?â In addition, having gratitude for everything you have and already are attracts more of that into your life. Letâs say you would like more money. Are you judging how much you donât have, or can you be grateful for every penny you do have? Remember just as judgement kills, gratitude grows. Now take a look at how far you have come in your life. Can you see how different you are from ten years ago? How about just last year, where were you and who were you choosing to be? Would you be willing to acknowledge all the places you have already succeeded and be grateful for what you have accomplished? If you spend time every day finding at least 3 things to be grateful for your whole world would change. The more you are grateful, the more you will find to be grateful for. Still wondering which path to choose. Would you like to know a little trick? If you were to just have gratitude and acknowledge yourself all the time, there would be no room for judgement. Which means if you picked the easy path, the harder path would be taken care of, as if by magic. Helping Your Business Grow as a Solo Entrepreneur
Helping Your Business Grow as a Solo Entrepreneur As a solo entrepreneur, one of your main goals is likely consistent growth for your business. All businesses want to experience growth to be successful, but unfortunately it isnât always simple. Growing your business as a solo entrepreneur presents a lot of challenges. So, to help, below youâll discover some of the best ways to grow a business when youâre running it single handed. Be wary of growing too fast Although youâll obviously want to grow your business as quickly as possible, you need to be wary of growing too fast. Unless you have the capabilities to handle fast growth, it could prove detrimental to your company. Think about it. If your business suddenly experiences fast growth, youâre going to see an influx of new orders. This means, youâre going to need to fulfil these orders quickly in order to keep customers happy. Unless you have a plan in place to help you package and ship orders quickly, youâre going to leave a lot of customers unhappy with delayed shipping. Similarly, your website might not be ready for fast growth. If there is a sudden influx of visitors to your site, it could crash. This again would drive a lot of customers away if they canât even access your website properly. These are just a couple of issues you can run into when you experience fast business growth. Ensure you have the funds to grow One thing every business needs to grow is funding. Whether itâs money for new premises, additional advertising or to create a new product range, youâre going to need some level of capital to achieve the growth youâre planning. Solo entrepreneurs can find it difficult to secure the funding they need. This is especially true if they havenât been trading long. One of the best options is to take out unsecured business loans. These provide a lump sum to help with business growth, and they wonât be secured on the business. This means, if you miss a repayment, you wonât need to worry about losing the company. Utilise the latest technology Are you currently using the latest software? If not, youâll want to start adopting new technology if youâre looking to grow. All of the top businesses these days utilise the latest technology. Whether itâs marketing software or customer service technology, the right tools can really help you to expand the business and generate a competitive edge. These are just some of the ways a solo entrepreneur can grow their business. Ensuring you have the funds required and youâve put together a solid plan to accommodate the growth are crucial to your success.

5 Ways To Start An Ethical Medical Practice Have It Thrive CareerMetis.com
5 Ways To Start An Ethical Medical Practice Have It Thrive â" CareerMetis.com Youâll find so many guides online about how to start a medical practice, but not much in the way of information about how to do it ethically. Now any medical practitioner will have initially decided to get into this line of work with regard to others in mind and with this noble aim leading an ethical life must be high up on the priority list.So why, when it comes to starting your own venture is all the advice on finance and money but without a view to doing things ethically? We aim to set that right here and now.1) Be Aware Of What You ChargeevalOne major issue in medicine today is the fact that charges can be so high, and here in the USA, they are amongst the highest in the world.evalStruggling to afford healthcare can make many Americans disregard or delay much-needed treatment. So with this in mind, be the good guy and keep this in mind when producing your price lists.2) Use Environmentally Friendly Medical SuppliesThink about how many medical devices are made of plastics and eve n worse, a mixture of parts and how many tons of rubbish and recycling this produces every year. There are alternatives if you shop around, suppliers likeEcoMedSupplieshave a huge range of eco-friendly products that can make a difference.3) Ensure Your Staff Are Well TreatedEthics isnât all about money and supplies though and people are also key to the success of any business and any medical practice. If you ensure that your staff is made to feel part of the family, give them good benefits and treat them with respect then you will see a much higher level of performance.Be as transparent as possible in your contracts and even encourage your staff to have a contract lawyer look over the contracts, this will help your physicians thrivein their roles.4) Offer A Range Of Alternative OptionsevalWhy limit your patientâs options when looking at treatment?OK, so some conditions are clear that there is one way to treat it, but this doesnât stop you considering additional benefits to healt h such as acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, and even yoga!Even offer nutritional advice with dieticians, who can advise on the best diets in the case of each patientâs circumstances and needs.5) Listen To Patient FeedbackAs with any venture, itâs essential to listen to customer feedback and in this case your patients are the customers. You may have all the medical stuff right but the experience and mood the whole place gives to the patient can go a long way to create an atmosphere that is cordial to healing.evalSpeak to patients and even offer surveys and opinion polls to get regular feedback on what is working and what is not. Itâs important to have a robust complaints process and respond in a caring and mature fashion listening to the complaint and finding a resolution.

Advice On How To Follow Up During Job Search
Advice On How To Follow Up During Job Search Have you ever asked anyone for their opinion about when or how to best follow up after sending a job application or an interview? What I bet youve found is that you get lots of different advice on when and how to follow up. And you know what- all of the advice you get is right but its all wrong too! Mixed Messages and Double Talk Some coaches suggest you wait a couple of days after youve submitted your application to follow up and some HR professionals may suggest you wait even longer. Then theres the long period after the interview where youre in limbo. Can you- should you follow up if you havent heard anything from the employer? Ever tried reaching out to a friend inside a company to ask for their help with a job you have applied to and gotten nothing, nada, zip? Concrete Answers Personal preference and bias get in the way when people provide advice on follow-up (or anything for that matter.) Once youve heard both sides, do what is best for YOU! Youve been told not to be pushy, aggressive or a stalker when following up with an employer after submitting an application or going on an interview. What exactly does this look like? The reality is, what one person may consider pushy, another person may consider demonstrating your interest. Your message is interpreted by the receiver, and each receiver has personal preferences. Your goal is to try to meet the unique preferences and needs of the person who will be listening to your voicemail or receiving your email. This means, write with the reader in mind. Write for them, not you. Application Follow-Up One of the worse mistakes any job seeker could make is not following up at all after submitting an application. How do you know your application was received? If youre lucky, the company has an automated system to notify you, otherwise, youre left to wonder. Finding out if your application was received may be as simple as contacting the human resources department; however, HR is flooded with these inquiries. Yes, it is HRs responsibility to respond to applicants inquiries, but that can become a full-time job. So what youll find is that most of the time, you wont receive any response. Many HR professionals suggest not bothering them to find out if your application made it into their system. They contend that constant emails and voicemail messages are not the way to get a response or gain the right type of attention. But you may have heard stories about applicants who were granted interviews because they persistently followed up. Which advice do you follow? Try taking an alternate route by connecting with employees inside the company to see if they might help, either by forwarding your resume to the right hiring manager or by getting you an update on where the company is in the hiring process. How Long Should You Wait? Many career professionals would say that you should follow up shortly after you apply. But what does that mean? How many hours, days or weeks do they mean by shortly? If you applied online and didnt receive any type of response that your application was received, an immediate or same-day call or email to the HR department isnt totally out of line. Technology can fail. Your priority is to ensure your materials were received, meanwhile, HRs priority is to screen the applications, not troubleshoot why yours wasnt received. When contacting HR, be polite and show empathy for their busy workload. If you do not get a response to your message, following up one week later for an update on the status of their screening process is also not out of line, as long as your wording is courteous. Giving up is a choice you may be faced with. However, if it is a job you are very interested in, dont throw in the towel. Ask connections inside the company for information about what is going on in the company and with the screening process. You Are Not Stalking Stalking can be defined as unwanted or obsessive attention. When or if you get a no thank you or dont call us, well call you response, you need to stop following up. But if youre still awaiting a response, dont cross the stalking line; instead, find alternative ways to show your interest. For instance, following the company on social networks isnt stalking, but sending regular messages to its inbox might be. Sharing some of its updates probably isnt going to mark you as a stalker, and the social media managers may even appreciate your promotional assistance if its done in moderation. Think outside the box and find alternative ways to gently remind the hiring manager that youre qualified and interested. No Two Companies Are The Same Every job and every industry is slightly different. What might work for you in one field may not work for someone else in another industry. A sales professional might be expected to be pleasantly persistent in his or her follow-up after an interview because it shows how he or she might follow through after a sales call. There is also some degree of trial and error. Dont be afraid to take a calculated risk when you follow-up.
